July 2009- June 2010 Donations $1,456 a defibrillator for use at Berkshire Hall/Brodie Park $1,000 to the Connecticut Lions Eye Research Foundation (C.L.E.R.F.) $ 250 to the Beekley Library $ 150 to Pleasant Valley Food Bank $ 250 to Camp Sunshine $ 100 to Connecticut Rivers Council $5,000 for scholarships (Regional #7 School and Northwest Community College) $6,035 for Social Needs - including eye exams & glasses, holiday gift cards, etc. October, 2008 A Thank You was received from Gerri Griswold, Director of Administration & Development for the White Memorial Conservation Center in Litchfield, CT for our donation for a bronze Braille plaque. The plaque with our club's name will be the first on the trail. December, 2008 Through the hard work & efforts of the New Hartford Lions Club members, we were able to help 19 families, which includes 40 children, to a Merry Christmas. Each child received a gift card from Walmart for $100.00. Each of the 19 families also received a $50.00 gift card from Price Chopper for their Christmas dinner. Our minutes went on to say.... "We should be very proud that through all the work we do we have the means to turn what might have been a not so merry Christmas into a merry one." |
